Maryland Hood Cleaning Text

Restaurateurs open many new establishments each year throughout Maryland. Each new restaurant increases the need for quality hood, duct and fan cleaning services to prevent fire-related damages.

American Professional Services (APS-Hoods) is known nationally as an industry leader in kitchen and hood cleaning, and provides restaurant hood cleaning services in Maryland. Kitchen grease build-up creates a serious fire hazard that must be removed with special chemicals and high-powered machinery used by certified and trained professionals. Routine cleaning and maintenance to remove this build-up is one of the easiest ways to maintain safety in commercial kitchens.

APS-Hoods’ protocols meet local, state and national standards, including National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 96, as well as our personal code of ethics.

Our fully integrated services include:

  • Scheduled steam cleaning, pressure washing and servicing of hoods, ducts, plenum, grease removal devices and rooftop exhaust fans.
  • Cleaning of kitchen systems to a like-new state and making sure these systems are in premium working order.
  • A complete report to the customer after each cleaning.
  • Random inspections by staff to see that NFPA standards are maintained

The type of equipment used and the volume of food cooked by various methods dictate restaurant kitchen cleaning schedules. Following are some "rules of thumb" restaurants can use to decide how often to undergo thorough cleanings

  • Every restaurant should undergo thorough cleaning at a minimum of every six months.
  • Restaurants that use deep fryers should clean ducts, fans and hoods four times per year.
  • Restaurants that cook with smokehouses or wood fires should undergo monthly cleanings at a minimum. Many restaurants that use wood fires clean their systems every two weeks, due to combustible residue build-up that can fuel kitchen fires
  • Chinese restaurants tend to use a great deal of vegetable oils in their cooking processes, so their kitchen systems should be cleaned every three months at a minimum. When vegetable oil grease builds up, it becomes “glue-like” and is difficult to remove.

APS-Hoods provides restaurant hood, fan and duct cleaning services throughout Maryland, including Baltimore, Annapolis, Laurel, Columbia, Hagerstown and Silver Spring.
