PLACENTIA AND SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA— August marks the first anniversary of the American Professional Services (APS-Hoods) Placentia, California fabrication facility.

APS-Hoods, a Placentia and San Francisco hood cleaning company whose headquarters are in Denver, Colorado, opened the Placentia facility in August 2009 to better meet the demands of a growing base of California customers, said CEO Massoud Farazandeh.

“We have always provided service to California since our company was founded in 1989,” Farazandeh said. “A couple of years ago, we realized the fabrication facility was needed for space reasons, and because our California projects were increasing.”

The creation of a fabrication facility provided much-needed space to custom-fabricate kitchen hoods. APS-Hoods had the equipment to do the fabrication for some time, but had no room for it.

Fabricating custom hoods often is necessary when a restaurant kitchen is bound by space constraints and standard, prefabricated hoods do not provide the proper fit. Restaurant owners also may opt for custom-made hoods if they desire more flexibility in their kitchens.

Having this location has made it easier for the company to increase its San Francisco hood sales, he said. It’s also provided an opportunity to launch mobile teams that adequately serve all of California and Nevada.

“We have up to five mobile teams traveling at any given time that report back to the Placentia facility,” said the San Francisco hood installation expert.

The mobile teams operate similar to over-the-road truck drivers, where they are routed to various jobs and may be on the road several weeks at a time while them clean and service and repair commercial kitchen hoods.

This has been a good business move for the company.

“We had been getting more calls from the Bay area, and having a Placentia location has us fairly central to most of our busiest areas,” said the San Francisco commercial hoods professional.
