Naked Fish Restaurant Fire Serves As Cautionary Tale

FORT COLLINS, COLORADO – Another recent fire at a Hayward, CA restaurant has American Professional Services (APS-Hoods), a Fort Collins hood sale company, encouraging restaurant owners and managers to take every precaution necessary to prevent costly damage to their establishments.

Firefighting News reported that on April 8, a two- alarm fire that broke out in the kitchen destroyed Naked Fish Japanese Cuisine restaurant.

“They got lucky that the fire didn’t cause more extensive damage, because it was located in a strip mall,” says Massoud Farazandeh, CEO of APS-Hoods, a Fort Collins hood cleaning company. “This easily could have been a more costly situation.” (more…)

Troubleshooting When You Have A Water Leak Around Your Hood System

SACRAMENTO, PLACENTIA AND LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA- We think it is safe to say that no restaurant owner likes to deal with water leaks.

Sometimes water leakage can occur around a kitchen hood exhaust fan. This often happens as a result of the fan not being secured properly.

“This could be caused by the previous hood cleaner not securing the fan properly after performing a routine hood cleaning,” said Massoud Farazandeh, CEO of APS-Hoods, which offers Sacramento hood cleaning services. “Another culprit could be corrosion caused by normal wear and tear on the equipment.” (more…)

A Fire Restoration Checklist for Restaurant Owners

BAY AREA, PLACENTIA AND LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – A pair of recent Bay Area fires has prompted American Professional Services (APS-Hoods), a Bay Area hood installation and fire restoration company, to release a checklist of services restaurant owners and/or managers should look for, in the event that you experience a fire in your establishment.

On Feb. 27, the San Jose Mercury News reported that fire caused about $350,000 in damage to the L & L Chinese Seafood Restaurant. Just days later on March 3, a two-alarm kitchen fire caused approximately $200,000 in damage to La Gaviota Restaurant in San Jose. (more…)

Increased Spending At Restaurants Could Mean More Frequent Hood Cleanings Needed

PLACENTIA AND LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA- If predictions of increased customer spending at restaurants in the next three months prove to be true, many of you restaurant owners and managers will need to consider whether you are having the commercial vent hood in your restaurants cleaned often enough, says one Los Angeles hood cleaning expert.

Restaurant News reported in February that an RBC Capital Markets consumer survey revealed that more survey participants said they intended to spend more money at restaurants in the next 90 days.

In January, 13 percent of those surveyed indicated they planned to spend more, while 14 percent said that in February, the Restaurant News article stated. This current figure is seven percent higher than survey respondents indicated last year at this time. (more…)
